We have built the tents to be as comfortable as possible in all weather conditions. However, this is technically 'camping' accommodation, and the elements including strong winds and rain can sometimes be a factor.
Being perched high on the hills with spectacular views, the weather can range from absolutely calm to extremely windy, and anything in-between, which is obviously completely out of our control.
Note that we do not accept any responsibility for any effect on your stay due to adverse weather.
Safari Tents
The Safari Tents are very sturdy and have been reinforced to withstand strong winds. Each of our Safari Tents is water tight. Cuddling up inside or even having a bath on the undercover deck during a storm is all part of the adventure!
Bell Tents
The Bell Tents are not timber framed structures like the Safari Tents, which means we reserve the right to close the Bell Tents if high winds are forecasted or make any other reasonable decision regarding the safety of our guests.
We will always give guests as much notice as possible on any decision relating to adverse weather, although conditions can change quickly. It would be rare for us to give less than 48hrs notice to guests.
If we decide to close a Bell Tent that has been booked, we will provide the guest with the opportunity to re-book or provide a full refund.
No, breakfast is not included - just milk, tea & coffee.
No, there is no WiFi provided but there is pretty good 4G coverage.
Cicada is located at;
127 Jerrara Rd, Jerrara NSW 2533
We recommend driving to Cicada, but the property is accessible by train and a short 8 minute taxi ride from Kiama train station.
Coming from the east/Kiama, the entrance is on the left of Jerrara Rd, about 100m after passing Long Brush Rd.
Coming from the west/Jamberoo, the entrance is on the right of Jerrara Rd, about 2.5km after turning onto Jerrara Rd.
The speed limit on the property is 20km/h at all times. Please respect the speed limit for your own safety and the safety of other guests.
Please stick to the gravel roads and car park areas only. DO NOT drive up to the tent – pathways are footpaths only.
Check-in is 3pm
Just ask if you would like an early check-in and we'll try and accommodate you.
You may check-in as late as you like, there are no gates so your tent is always accessible. We just won't be able to greet you and show you to your tent after 7pm, but self-check-in is very easy, and we'll provide detailed check-in instructions.
Check-out is 10am
Just ask if you would like a late check-out and we'll try and accommodate you.
There is a car park for all guests, which is located a minimum of 40m and maximum of 120m from the tents, depending on which tent you book, so please note you can't park right next to your tent.
No, we have a minimum stay of two nights, with three nights on long weekends.
We do allow group bookings, however if 3 tents (up to 6 guests) are booked, we request that both safari tents are booked as they are close together and will have less impact on the fourth tent guests.
Cicada is designed as an escape to the country to enjoy some peace, rest and relaxation.
We ask all guests to respect the quiet enjoyment of other guests and neighbours, and avoid making any loud or offensive noises.
Cicada is strictly adults only so that you and our other guests can fully relax and indulge. For this reason, and due to the nature of the property, we are unable to welcome children.
As we are committed to protecting the wildlife of Cicada, we do not welcome any pets.
Yes! Absolutely no problem for those that require an assistance dog to book and bring their dog along.
We ask that you provide documentation in advance showing that the Assistance Dog is accredited.
Please bring the dog's own bedding. We ask that you ensure it does not get onto the furniture in the tents.
Guests are also responsible for cleaning any excessive fur or mess caused by the dog, otherwise a cleaning fee may apply.
No, you cannot bring your own tent or campervan to camp on the property, as our council DA prevents it.
There are campground facilities in the surrounding region.
All our tents include a fire pit and cooking grills, utensils and crockery plus a small bar fridge.
Our two premium safari tents have kitchenettes equipped with all your basic cooking needs, including an induction stove top, kettle, toaster and kitchen sink.
Our two bell tents have access to 'The Brood' which is the shared amenities block, with a wheelchair accessible bathroom and a kitchen, plus an undercover outdoor sitting area.
The Brood kitchen includes sink, kettle, toaster, induction hotplate, fridge, and basic cooking utensils & supplies.
Read our first three FAQs for what's included in the Safari tents, Bell tents and The Brood for more detail.
All tents and the shared amenities block are equipped with full 240v power. This is predominantly powered by a large solar power system, but is backed up by mains power for use at night and cloudy days.
Overall, the mobile coverage is pretty reliable, with 4G in most parts of the site.
All our pathways are gravel. They can be steep and uneven in areas, so we recommend wearing appropriate footwear.
We ask that all guests stay within the fenced areas. If you wish to explore the bush/rainforest area, please note there are no official walking trails and you do so at your own risk and we take no responsibility for any injury. Please wear appropriate footwear on the gravel pathways as some areas are steep and uneven.
They are around if you look hard enough, and we do hear them from time to time over summer, but don't worry, there's never been an abundance of Cicadas here!
They are a very nostalgic part of our childhood and we love the name.
